Quattro cotton from Lang Yarns

Pyramid of colourful balls of Quattro cotton yarn

My crochet students love Quattro

The most popular yarn with my crochet students is Quattro cotton from Lang Yarns. My students like this yarn because it is a mercerised cotton which means that it has a lovely sheen and it comes in many beautiful colours. It has a tight twist so it doesn’t split much; this helps beginners to see the individual stitches and to insert their hook in the right place. And that means they make quicker progress when learning.

Quattro cotton comes in 50 g skeins of 120 m. Lang Yarns describe Quattro as a double knit weight. However, I think it is better described as a light double knit or a heavy 4-ply. It crochets and knits beautifully. I’ve nearly finished making a crochet blanket; because I want the blanket to drape and I crochet quite tightly I’m using a 4.5 mm hook.

I’m using Light grey, Duck egg and Teal: I love how they look together. I’m planning a second blanket using Pale lavender, Lavender and Violet; my friends all know that I love purples! And, if you came to Nottingham Yarn Expo or Winter Woollies last year, you’ll have seen the flower garland that I crocheted using this yarn.
