Pretty Posies – another new pattern!

You might think that a sock pattern in a magazine full of summer knits is a little strange. However, socks make perfect holiday knitting! They’re small, so they take up little room in your luggage and you can carry them around easily.
Delicate pretty posies
The sock is knitted from the top down, beginning with a patterned rib and a few rounds of two-colour patterning for the posies pattern. The remainder of the sock is worked in stocking stitch, with a heel flap, in Eye of the Partridge stitch, and finally a round toe. So, most of the sock is in stocking stitch, which makes for relaxing knitting.
Sock details
The Pretty Posies socks pattern instructions are for three sizes: feet circumferences of 20.5, 23 and 25.5 cm with 2–3 cm negative ease. The foot length is adjustable.
Yarn choice
Purple and yellow is one of my favourite colour combinations; you see these colours in many flowers such as pansies. So, as soon as I saw this lovely sock yarn in these colours I knew what I wanted to knit; socks with flowers!
Oakworth 4-ply is spun from pure New Zealand Polwarth wool, then hand-dyed in Yorkshire by Eden Cottage Yarns; it is machine washable. This yarn is a joy to knit; both for the feel as it passes through your hand and the many subtle purples.
You will need two colours; I used Buddleja for the main colour and Dahlia for the contrast. You will only a small amount of contrast colour; a mini-hank is sufficient. You could buy a hank in both colours and knit a second pair with the colours reversed.
