This is only the second exhibition in which I’ve been involved in the installation. It is a strange process – installing artwork. We started with a plan of where each piece would go; only a few changes were made and this is to be expected because some decisions have to be made during installation. During installation, the gallery becomes messy with tools and packaging scattered around.
Problems have to be solved such as how to hang a very large sock.
How to display textiles.
How to attach hooks to a ceiling when the ladder isn’t high enough to reach!
Slowly, but surely, each piece is installed, tools are cleared away and order returns.
And there’s even somewhere for information about the artists.
We leave pleased with the installation process and how the different pieces look together. We hope that visitors will enjoy the exhibition. Now we need to prepare for the Private View which takes place between midday and 2 pm on Thursday.
