Description

Hand-knit sock workshop

Learn to knit a sock with knitwear designer and tutor Nicki Merrall. This workshop is suitable whether you’ve never knitted socks before or have tried and struggled in the past.

There are many different ways to construct socks, including top-down or toe-up methods, heel flaps or short-row heels, and rounded toes or wedge toes. Nicki will begin by showing you a variety of hand-knit socks and explaining different construction methods.

She will then demonstrate the techniques needed for knitting top-down socks with heel flaps and simple toes. During the workshop, you’ll knit a small-sized sock. Once you’ve completed that, you can choose between knitting a second small sock or begin an adult-sized sock.

What previous participants say:

“Nicki’s endless patience and detailed preparation allowed everyone to learn and practice enough to complete a sample sock and to go home ready to tackle an adult sock.”

Another excellent Nicki knitting course. This time to learn the techniques needed to knit socks. It’s quite a fiddly task with small needles and fine yarn, but Nicki’s endless patience and detailed preparation allowed everyone to learn and practice enough to complete a sample sock and to go home ready to tackle an adult sock.
    Great soup and cake too.
