All the Fish sleeveless sweater

Yarn pack for All the Fish sleeveless sweater

The colours in the All the Fish sleeveless sweater are inspired by the eye-catching and colourful displays in shops selling tinned fish in many French coastal towns. The patterns continue the nautical theme: the lozenges of the large Fair Isle patterns have fishing net, star, and anchor motifs; these alternate with a narrow peerie pattern with a fish motif. There are frequent changes of both pattern colours and background colours throughout the corrugated rib and stocking stitch colourwork sections.

All the Fish pattern is for a traditional sleeveless sweater. It is worked in the round, bottom-up, from a corrugated rib to the beginning of the armhole and V-neck shaping. To continue knitting the sleeveless sweater in the round, stitches are cast on to bridge the armholes and neck opening: these are the steeks. After the body is complete, the steeks are cut open, the shoulders are joined by using a thee-needle cast-off. Stitches are picked up around each armhole, and the armhole edging is worked as. a narrow corrugated rib. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neck opening, and the neckband is worked in the same rib pattern as for the armhole edging.
